What is Rosacea & Redness?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by persistent redness, flushing, and inflammation that primarily affects the central face. This redness can range from a mild blush to a deep, ruddy appearance. Often, small blood vessels become visible, and people with rosacea might experience bumps, pimples, burning, stinging, and sensitivity.

While the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, it’s believed to stem from a combination of genetics, immune system dysfunction, and environmental triggers. Certain factors like sun exposure, spicy foods, alcohol, extreme temperatures, or stress can worsen rosacea symptoms, triggering flare-ups. Although there’s no cure, treatments and lifestyle changes help manage the condition and minimize the frequency and severity of flare-ups.

What Causes Rosacea & Redness?

While the exact cause of rosacea remains unknown, researchers believe it arises from a complex interplay of factors.  Genetics play a significant role, with a higher risk if you have family members with rosacea.  Additionally, abnormalities in blood vessels, causing them to dilate more easily, contribute to the redness and flushing.

A dysregulated immune system that triggers excessive inflammation likely plays a role in rosacea.  The presence of microscopic Demodex mites, often found in larger numbers on the skin of those with rosacea, might contribute to the inflammatory response. Additionally, some researchers believe an overactive neuropeptide (a signaling molecule) in the skin can trigger redness and sensitivity.

While triggers don’t cause rosacea itself, they can worsen symptoms in susceptible individuals. Common triggers include:

  • Sun exposure
  • Spicy foods and alcohol
  • Extreme temperatures (hot or cold)
  • Stress
  • Certain skin care products or medications
  • Wind or intense exercise

I received a facial lifting treatment at the clinic (Inmode, sorry, I forgot the exact name). The clinic itself is very modern and new, with a great location that's conveniently close to the highway. The staff at the reception were super friendly and nice. The esthetician was very gentle during the treatment, and I almost fell asleep. Everything was very clean and well-managed. I'm definitely planning to go back there again.

Eve Therapy was recommended to me by a friend who attends Evergreen Rehab. I have been suffering from allergic dermatitis and breakouts for a few months and visited the clinic to get a consultation. The aesthetician recommended skin care treatments that would improve my skin during our brief consultation. I have received Acne Care, Aladdin Peeling, MTS, and IPL sessions which not only reduced my acne breakouts, but also helped fade my acne scars. I also purchased the famous SkinCeutical's vitamin C serum which also helped with my acne scars and brightening. I also received a couple of sessions of MiniFx which help to tone and slim my arms and outer thighs. Definitely recommend seeing Lily K for any skin concerns!!

I was only thinking about moisture management, but she gave me a consultation that was suitable for my skin condition, and they had a wedding package so i chose the wedding package with a happy heart. It's been a month since I took care of it, and I'm very satisfied and highly recommend it :)
